Koei-Kagaku specialises in the manufacture and sale of plastic extruded products, particularly PVC and ABS resin pipes. Possessing approximately 150 sets of moulds and around 400 sizing plates, the company can produce custom-made pipes in diverse sizes and colours, typically without requiring moulding fees. It focuses on online sales via its own website and major e-commerce platforms, conducting business with customers nationwide across Japan.
Furthermore, aiming to realise a sustainable society, the company is also committed to addressing social issues. It focuses on pipe manufacturing using recycled materials and applies its pipe processing technology to the planning, development, and sale of recreational equipment for elderly care facilities.
Koei-Kagaku's strength lies in its flexible responsiveness, underpinned by an overwhelming number of moulds and equipment. Possessing approximately 150 sets of pipe forming moulds and around 400 sizing plates – significantly exceeding competitors – the company eliminates initial costs such as mould production while providing custom-sized pipes tailored to customer requirements. Furthermore, Koei-Kagaku Inc. can readily and cost-effectively modify moulds and sizing plates using lathes and similar equipment, enabling flexible responses to specialised sizes. Moreover, it achieves high-precision control with outer diameter size (dimensional) tolerances of approximately 2% and length cut tolerances of approximately 0.2–0.05%, earning recognition for its product reliability.
Koei-Kagaku also holds a strong reputation for its stable moulding technology using recycled materials. While recycled materials present challenges in adjusting moulding conditions when the specifications of the original moulded product material differ, the company ensures quality through securing stable supply routes for recycled materials and moulding stabilisation technology developed through accumulated expertise. Koei-Kagaku Inc. uses recycled materials in over 40% of its products. Compared to first-grade resin materials, these offer lower raw material costs, contributing to improved gross profit margins.
Furthermore, maintaining a constant stock of diverse colouring raw materials enables the establishment of a short-lead-time, small-batch production system for coloured pipes, which is another strength.
Koei-Kagaku is also focusing on new initiatives through industry-academia collaboration. Since 2022, it has been conducting idea workshops utilising pipes with Osaka University of Comprehensive Children Education, exchanging views on product development for welfare and childcare-related sectors. This has led to the planning and development of recreational equipment for elderly care facilities, such as a strikeout game for the elderly. Furthermore, for the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo, the company is exhibiting a “Disaster Prevention Locker” in collaboration with the university and ten local businesses. This locker functions as a storage unit for supplies during normal times and can be converted into private spaces, such as a nursing room, during disasters. The company continues to pursue product development that meets customer needs.
Koei-Kagaku sells pipes under the ‘Pipe Factory’ brand on Amazon, a major e-commerce site. Sales commenced with the aim of effectively utilising surplus products generated during the made-to-order production process rather than discarding them. The range now encompasses approximately 150 sizes and colours. Despite being a niche product, orders are received from across Japan, achieving both waste reduction and expanded sales channels. Currently accounting for around 3% of the company's total sales, sales continue to grow.
