MAOCHI INDUSTRY Co., Ltd. specialises in precision machining of small components, primarily using aluminium as its material. It is a young company, having been founded in 2022. President Naoji Kosugi established it after leaving the machining company where he had previously worked. By handling everything from prototyping to mass production and repeat orders for aluminium parts, the company has earned the trust and affection of its customers.
MAOCHI INDUSTRY handles some resin processing, but according to President Kosugi, ‘99% of our work involves machining aluminium products.’ Aluminium is soft and prone to scratching, making it difficult to handle and classifying it as a difficult-to-machine material. However, President Kosugi counters that ‘there are things only aluminium can achieve.’ With accumulated know-how and technology, aluminium's characteristic malleability allows it to be shaped into any form demanded by the customer.
President Kosugi previously worked for a company primarily focused on resin processing. There, he was entrusted with establishing and leading an aluminium processing division, gaining extensive experience and technical expertise in machining over many years. A further strength lies in the presence of a skilled female staff member who worked alongside Mr Kosugi in that division for over a decade, specialising in aluminium machining. She joined MAOCHI INDUSTRY immediately upon its establishment. Although the workforce is small, comprising just three employees, this very small size enables a high degree of agility. The company consistently handles the precision machining of palm-sized small parts – components that other companies often find difficult to handle – from prototyping through to completion, all within short lead times.
MAOCHI INDUSTRY achieves the fine machining of prototypes that other companies could not handle, using jigs designed in-house. Through such on-site ingenuity and flexible responsiveness, the company has consistently delivered high-precision, high-quality machining with short lead times. This has earned deep customer trust and resulted in numerous repeat orders. To achieve high-precision machining, the company also employs water-soluble cutting oils. Aluminium is more prone to thermal deformation than other metals, but using water-soluble cutting oil with its high cooling performance mitigates deformation risks and enhances machining accuracy. It also simplifies post-processing and machine cleaning, making it a thoroughly beneficial solution.
The aluminium components processed by MAOCHI INDUSTRY serve a wide range of applications, including automobiles, semiconductor manufacturing equipment, medical devices, and aircraft, and come in a multitude of shapes. Aircraft manufacturers, in particular, impose extremely stringent requirements regarding dimensional accuracy, such as bending tolerances. To meet these demands, MAOCHI INDUSTRY has introduced the CAD/CAM software “Mastercam” and combines it with five-axis machining centres. In high-difficulty 3D machining, success hinges largely on how effectively the drawings received from customers are converted into CAD/CAM data. Here too, the experience and skills gained in previous roles prove invaluable.
