IIDA is a specialist manufacturer of mould bases, essential components in plastic injection moulding and die-casting processes. Mould bases refer collectively to the group of parts forming the outer periphery of a mould. They not only guarantee the machining precision of the mould but also play a crucial role in ensuring its proper operation. Since its founding in 1992, the company has consistently specialised in producing custom-made mould bases tailored to specific products and customers' manufacturing equipment. It serves a diverse range of industries, primarily automotive, home appliances, and amusement equipment, with a large customer base.
Mould bases are available as standard specification items, which are utilised to prepare the moulds. However, custom-made items are required for products with high functionality or design complexity, as well as for insert parts where metal components are moulded integrally with resin, or for two-colour moulded products combining different materials into a single part. IIDA possesses 30 machining centres and other state-of-the-art processing and inspection equipment, enabling it to meet such advanced customer requirements.
Furthermore, IIDA's strength lies in its technical team capable of high-precision machining complex shapes, including micro-features, multi-faceted surfaces, curved surfaces, and deep holes. Notably, its programming department, which creates control programmes for machine tools, is among the largest in the industry, employing approximately 20 specialists. The company has reformed its structure, moving away from machinists also handling programming. It has specialised programming and machining roles, assigning personnel with extensive machining experience to the programming department to strengthen development capabilities. Furthermore, by establishing separate departments for specific processes—such as flat surfaces, side surfaces, and hole machining—it has created an environment that facilitates the accumulation of more advanced machining know-how and enables more efficient programme creation.
IIDA is advancing the customisation of processing machinery and the in-house development of specialised equipment to reduce processing times and stabilise processing quality. Currently, specialised machinery such as air tables, side processing machines, and parts press-fit machines have been introduced to the processing site. The air table utilises the force of air blown from the table surface to enable the easy movement of heavy objects. The side processing machine also allows work to be carried out without changing the orientation of the workpiece, significantly reducing the risk of staff injury from falls.
IIDA's programme division employs a significant number of female staff. Beyond facilitating maternity and childcare leave, the company is advancing the creation of a workplace environment conducive to all employees, regardless of gender, through initiatives such as introducing a flexible working-from-home system tailored to individual lifestyles. Furthermore, the company participated in the “Manufacturing Industry Mini 4WD Competition” held at the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo, exhibiting toys developed by applying its steel processing expertise. Beyond simply entertaining visitors, the company is actively engaged in communicating its technological capabilities and the appeal of its manufacturing processes.
