Daiki Industrial is a specialist manufacturer engaged in the design, development and production of springs. It has established a system capable of meeting all requirements, from mass-produced items to single-unit orders.
The company manufactures a wide range of products, from industrial components to household goods, including hose clamps for securing pipe joints in automobiles, gas taps, and water taps, as well as chair springs and clothes peg clips. Furthermore, it can produce items using various materials such as piano wire, hard steel wire, stainless steel, phosphor bronze, brass, and iron, accommodating wire diameters ranging from 0.16 to 4 mm.
Daiki Industrial excels not only in the mass production of standard coil springs and torsion coil springs, but also in specialised products such as formed parts (bent components). The company possesses multiple multi-axis controlled spring forming machines capable of adjusting bending angles to within 1/1,000th of a degree. By independently refining programmes and adding control axes, it produces high-precision, complex-shaped products.
When manufacturing springs for storage boxes in luxury car dashboards, we met a challenging request: ‘Create a spring with the stiffness to open slowly over 10 seconds.’ For clothes pegs and hanger clips, we carefully balance product design and wire selection to prevent wet laundry from slipping off, while ensuring the springs are not too stiff for female users.
‘We don't approach manufacturing with the mindset of merely producing one component for a final product,’ states President Oonaka. He continues, ‘We strive to meet customer needs by grasping the product's overall picture and designing the optimal shape and quality.’ These words encapsulate the company's sincere approach.
Ohnaka, CEO gained experience as a factory manager at a spring manufacturer before establishing his own business. He also possesses expertise in producing dies used for forging processes such as screw manufacturing. Currently, the company manufactures dies for spring forming machines in-house and performs fine adjustments to these dies based on production quality and yield rates. Furthermore, it retains all layout sheets recording manufacturing programmes and product data for spring forming machines, along with past product samples. This comprehensive archive enables the company to develop prototypes and advance mass production of new products, representing a significant strength.
Daiki Industrial has jointly developed with a business partner a clip that prevents nuts from loosening due to vibration by covering the bolts and nuts securing sleepers to rails. A patent has been secured. During development, the company gathered insights on track conditions and inspection methods. Through repeated trial and error, they devised a shape prioritising ease of installation and the safety of field workers. Currently, verification work continues within the railway sector, whilst adoption is also being targeted for sites demanding high safety standards, such as transmission power pylons.
