Our strength lies in our long-established expertise and the adaptability afforded by hand-sharpened blades.

Traditional craftsmanship achieved through exceptional hand-honed blades

Nearly 80 years of proven results in machining difficult-to-cut materials

KYOKUTO was founded in 1948. Since then, it has specialised in turning and milling operations on difficult-to-machine materials. The company excels in machining valves and valve stems using specialised difficult-to-machine materials, processing stainless steel piping for semiconductor manufacturing equipment, and machining components such as valve seats that demand high finishing precision. Furthermore, its machining technology for sensor bases using specialised materials is recognised, enabling it to undertake such work exclusively.
The company's proprietary lathes, dubbed the ‘Kyokuto Model’, and its master toolmakers who hand-grind cutting tools specifically for difficult-to-machine materials, enable high-precision finishing despite working with such challenging materials. This technical capability is the result of the company's nearly 80-year history.

Take pride in our accumulated proprietary expertise and original machinery.

KYOKUTO's strength lies in its adaptability to meet diverse customer needs. Underpinning this is the first strength: ingenious chucking solutions. For instance, collet chucks utilising pneumatic cylinders enable machining of materials as thin as 0.2mm and high-precision processing requiring concentricity of 1/100. The use of pneumatic cylinders allows for secure chucking with minimal gripping force, minimising workpiece deformation during machining. Furthermore, collet chucks are prepared to match the size and shape of the workpiece, enabling high-precision machining.
The second strength lies in the in-house production of hand-ground cutting tools. Since the company's founding, employees possessing highly advanced grinding techniques have hand-ground each tool individually, enabling the machining of extremely thin and fine components with thickness tolerances within 1/100th of a millimetre. The third strength lies in skilled operators intuitively adjusting the chuck's holding force to the appropriate level. This difficult-to-quantify skill underpins the company's adaptability.
The fourth strength is the presence of original machinery developed by the previous president. By appropriately utilising machines such as the tapping machine and grinding machine, which the company terms the ‘Far East Model’, it enables component machining that only this company can provide.

Strengths

Hand-ground blades crafted by skilled artisans

KYOKUTO has specialised in precision machining since its founding, frequently undertaking projects demanding high machining accuracy. Consequently, it has earned customer trust by achieving smooth surface roughness and concentricity, roundness, and parallelism within 0.01mm. For instance, in grinding operations, hand polishing enables surface roughness of Ra 0.2μm or less, achieving consistent finishes within tolerances of ±1/100 or less. This has led to evaluations such as, ‘Subsequent machining simply doesn't work properly unless it's done on KYOKUTO's machined parts.’ Both these capabilities are the result of KYOKUTO's proprietary technology and hand-ground cutting tools.

Capable of processing diverse sizes and materials

KYOKUTO handles machining of diverse sizes, with thicknesses down to 0.5mm and diameters ranging from φ1.2 to 100mm. Materials encompass stainless steel, Hastelloy, titanium, Inconel, Stellite, duplex stainless steel, resins, copper, SUS nickel equivalent materials, aluminium, SS materials, SCM materials, SUH materials, and more. This capability stems from the skilled craftsmanship of our experienced technicians. We are committed to passing these skills on to younger engineers and continuing to strive for the creation of products that only KYOKUTO can provide.
