Sankyo Plastic Material Manufacturing is a specialist manufacturer of resin machining. It possesses in-house facilities capable of processing both thermoplastic and thermosetting resins. Its client base spans diverse industries including automotive, semiconductor, aerospace, and medical. The company particularly excels in machining components for semiconductor manufacturing equipment. ‘Eighty per cent of our sales are to the semiconductor manufacturing equipment industry, and we have dealings with most semiconductor manufacturing equipment manufacturers,’ states Director Shohei Teshima.

Establish a quality control system with dedicated inspectors

Sankyo Plastic Material Manufacturing's strength lies in its rigorous quality control. With approximately five dedicated inspectors permanently on staff, the company has established a quality management system where each item is inspected individually according to its own inspection procedures, using standards stricter than those required by the customer. This has enabled the company to achieve a zero defect rate. This system is applied to products for semiconductor manufacturing equipment, which demand extremely high precision, serving as a major competitive advantage over other companies. Furthermore, the establishment of a manual-based quality assurance system enables the company to respond smoothly to requests for cost reductions and shorter delivery times, contributing to the trust gained from its clients.
Semiconductor manufacturing equipment exhibits remarkable growth and is relatively unaffected by economic fluctuations. Consequently, Sankyo Plastic Material Manufacturing relocated its headquarters factory to its current site in 2023, expanding the site area and enhancing production facilities. The machining centres introduced after the headquarters relocation now total seven units, including those awaiting delivery. All units already delivered are operating at full capacity, promising future revenue growth.

We strive to enhance productivity by creating a comfortable workplace, a clean factory, and an environment conducive to concentration. This also aims to dispel the traditional image of manufacturing as dirty work. To boost employee motivation and attract new talent, we actively participate in the Open Factory events organised by Settsu City.

Sankyo Plastic Material Manufacturing conducts study sessions on processing techniques for employees engaged in on-site work approximately two to three times per month, ensuring the transfer of skills from senior staff. This ensures consistent product quality regardless of who is working on the production line, thereby preventing quality variation. Furthermore, the company has established an independent Production Management Department which continuously reviews process deficiencies and seeks to improve both operational rates and productivity. According to Director Teshima, it is rare for companies of Sankyo Plastic Material Manufacturing's size to have a dedicated Quality Control Department.
